Long time coming

I'm baking cookies. Lots of them.  With Mike. We're gonna give them as part of our Thank You presents to all the people who helped with our house. With the priming and the painting and the fixing and the packing and the moving.  Mike has gone to the store to get more parchment paper and I'm waiting for the timer to ding for the next batch.  Also, I'm contemplating a change in color scheme and a resolution to post more frequently.

T-Minus

Roughly 30 minutes for the last launch. And 1 hour for our closing. When I next sit down to the this computer, I'll own a home. Woah.

We Have a Closing Date

We have a closing date! It is less than 48 hours from now. I am stoked. I am overwhelmed. Mainly, I am jumping up and down and squeaking.

I went to the grocery store this afternoon and bought $12 worth of cherries. I lack good decision making skills.

Mushrooms in the Morning

It's 4th of July! I got up early and went out for a walk, it's so peaceful early in the morning. It's my very favorite time of day.  Bunches of mushrooms are popping up all over our complex from all the rain, I want to make shortcuts jokes all the time.  We're baking peanut butter cookies and I'm uploading pictures of the new house.  Soon, a shower. Later - fireworks, friends, games and food.  Yesterday - friends, food and some Star Trek.  Thank you Netflix. Day before, some friends, some games, some baking, a walk in our new neighborhood and our new house.

This coming week - closing and chaos!

Crazy Self

Dear Self,
Remember two weeks ago when you coveted that Kelly green skirt off the Anthro sale rack? That one that you put back because it had a zillion pleats you knew you wouldn’t iron?  You do? Good. Right on self.   I affirm you self because today you’re wearing another Anthro skirt with a ruffle you never iron. It’s driving you crazy.
-Me

Dear Future Self,
In the fall, when Forever 21 pulls out all their awesome printed and patterned tights, I implore you to buy a ton of pairs.  A ton!

Things I am doing right now

I am watching Harry Potter. I am sipping wine. I am writing looong emails to friends and family who I have been terribly bad at keeping in touch with. I am reading blogs. I am listening to Mikey play WoW with our friends. I am waiting for him to finish so he can give me the hidden cookies.  I am debating on whether I should cave in and hunt for the hidden cookies or go eat ice cream. I am not thinking about work. I am not thinking about the house. I am just sitting in my pajama pants. I am headed off to bed.

Milestones

Today is June 24, that means all kinds of things:

It’s halfway to CHRISTMAS! Well, Christmas Eve which I count as Christmas because it is my absolute favorite day of the year. It holds promise and magic and good food and family and presents! Last Christmas Eve was a little weird because I didn’t get to enjoy it much at all – I was working retail and stuck working all day. This year will be different because I have a non-retail job and will be able to take the whole darn day off!

To that end, today is another milestone; I’ve been at this job 90 days and was given insurance, vacation and holiday information.

I’ve always liked the 24th but now it holds a special significance for me.  Today happens to be my 10 month Florida anniversary.  Ten months ago today, after a three day drive from the Chicago burbs to the great state of Florida, I woke up in a new bed, in a new apartment, in new state with my Michael by my side.  The 24th was my first full day in the state as a resident starting my brand new adventure with my Michael.  I’m awful mushy about it but I’m so glad I took this wild leap and moved halfway across the country to try making a life with him.

The First Big One

Today, the first day of summer 2011, coincides with my first blog post!  There's a loaf of lemon bread cooling on the kitchen counter, a pile of paint chips on the coffee table, a rack of laundry drying in the hall, the sounds of Michael computering drifting out from the office and my favorite Gilmore episode in the background - that's my life, wrapped in a blanket on the couch.
